Promila Ayyangar


Promila, Associate Partner at Vyaktitva is  a senior business leader with over 36 years of experience in the corporate world, a large part in the IT services/training sector. An IRMA 1982 alumnus, she started her career with the father of the white revolution in India, Dr. Verghese Kurien ,  Chairman National Dairy Development Board as his Executive Assistant. During her 5 year tenure in the rural sector, she worked with rural producer’s cooperatives across India on the successful Anand Pattern and got the opportunity to interact with some of the greatest leaders from across the world in politics, industry and rural India. These years shaped her life’s philosophy and the deep belief in the empowerment and leadership of people.

Promila joined NIIT in its high growth and global expansion phase in 1989 as part of the core business team and headed business led functions across India, UK , Europe and Middle east. Over the next 18 years, she held various leadership positions across different business verticals growing and managing the career training business in India, software services business for NIIT UK, Europe and Middle east and then the government business back in India for some of the largest states like Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, MP and Gujarat. This brought her back to work with the policy makers in the government  to design and implement IT education in schools catering to some of the poorest of the poor children. She joined the India operations of US based Synova Technologies heading their software services business after NIIT.

During her 5 year period at NIIT Europe (1996-2001), the top management of NIIT sought her out to deliver the additional task of transforming the organization by setting up robust HR processes and creating the unique value based culture where she headed the role of HR head for these geographies for 2 years. NIIT also provided her the unique opportunity to see women take on leadership roles and witness the true meaning of equal opportunity employer. She was awarded the topmost honor in the organization as a Member of the NIIT Chairman’s Path Finder’s Squadron in 2000-2001.

Having been part of the people led services organizations in the IT sector, the power of creating and managing powerful, high performance teams had been one of Promila’s core strengths  and passion areas. Joining Vyaktitva, a leading people performance consulting organization in 2010 was  therefore a logical step with the desire to help enhance people performance across diverse organizations.

As an Associate Partner, Promila has been working on various Organizational Design, Development and Executive Coaching assignments focused on individual and organizational performance. Guiding people and watching their transformation into successful leaders excites her as much as consultative solution based engagements. Gender equality at workplace and coaching potential women leaders to grow within organizations is a personal commitment.

  • Social action:

Volunteer for the most successful people driven charity initiative in India, Daan Utsav /The Joy of Giving Week(JGW) since its start in 2009.  She has actively mobilized  the corporate world to engage their employees and stake holders in the acts of giving to NGO’s and causes of their choice

Promila is also an active contributor to the girl child causes and organizations
