Organisational Growth and Structure Models

Doing some work for a couple of clients made us relook at some of the theory we learnt in Organizational Behavior and Theory classes.

Specially Larry Griener’s growth model, which says that an organization grows and faces issues that need to be resolved. However, the resolution carries within it the seeds of the next issue that the organization will face in the future. Pdf available here.

Then there’s Henry Mintzberg’s taxonomy of organizational structures, which talks of the 5 parts of an organization and the five types of organizations.

Both can be referred together for organizations that are changing from one level of the sigmoidal curve to another.
